Meet Doc, a happy-go-lucky hound who decided to get a little too close to our local wildlife. He was rushed in to our hospital after receiving a rattlesnake bite right on top of his nose. His owners recognized symptoms quickly so luckily Doc was able to get the care he needed right away. A couple years ago we published a brief overview on rattlesnakes after seeing several bites in the same week. This week we have treated two patients who suffered rattlesnake bites. While you are out in El Dorado County with your furry companions, keep a sharp eye out for rattlesnakes and follow these simple tips to keep everyone safe:
First, make sure your dog has received the rattlesnake vaccine!
